Lake Guided Paddle Experience; time - several hours; approximate cost $60.00 per person
This guided activity usually takes place at nearby Lake of The Prairies, a large lake that doubles as flood control for the southern part of Manitoba including the cities of Brandon and Winnipeg, but we may move to a smaller lake if the weather is particularily windy. Lakes provide a great opportunity to learn and practice paddling skills in a flat water environment, as well as offering ample opportunities to view wildlife and explore the shoreline.
A couple of hours paddling allows us to work on technique and safety protocols and we can usually find traces of beaver, many different birds, and evidence of lots of different animals that frequent the shoreline for water.
We provide life jacket, paddle, canoe or kayak, and all required safety equipment as well as transportation of equipment to the lake.
Guided River Moving Water Experience; time - several hours; approximate cost $60.00 per person
This trip can vary from a person's first time in moving water, to running larger rapids at peak flow volumes for more experienced paddlers. We can tailor this experience to meet your needs, depending on the time of year and the volume of the river at any given time.
We provide a review of whitewater paddle strokes and the use of saftey equipment, as well as communication and travel practices on the river. We will look at river skills such as reading the water, boat entry options, and how to stay together in a group as we progress down stream.
Practice of safety skils and paddling drills culminate in a run down the river. Playing along the way in water features and rapids, we will keep an eye out for evidence of animals, and have a chance to catch some wildlife in action.
We provide life jacket, paddle, canoe or kayak, helmet, and all required safety equipment as well as transportation of equipment to the river
River Overnight Camp; time - 2 days, one overnight; approximate cost $125.00 per person
We select a river nearby based on current water levels, and the experience of the people involved in the trip. Expect 3-5 hours each day of paddling, with some slow moving water and some rapids to get our hearts pumping!
After discussing river communications, safety, and some paddling skills review, we pack up our gear and head off for an adventure! We travel downstream as a group and support each other as we immerse ourselves in the life of the river. Each corner we glide past brings discovery and after a few hours we begin to look for a place to camp for the night.
We all participate in camp chores and set up and then you can relax as we cook up a delicious meal for you in the great outdoors. After our meal, you can read a book, play cards, or simply sit around the fire and enjoy the fresh air and a release from everyday routine.
We provide safety equipment, as well as rental of any equipment needed for an additional fee. We supply all food and provide cooking for all meals.
Our guides will assist with fire starting, camp set up, safe food storage, pitching a tent, or anything else you may need.
