hike in the forest

Day Hikes:  Just grab some water and a snack and head out the door.

Day hikes are an easy way to grab some fresh air and enjoy the great outdoors.  We have many great options in our local area within a short drive, with several provincial parks, the TransCanada Trail, and Riding Mountain National Park all close by.

Most hikes are between 2-4 hours, and the difficulties can range from easy, to more difficult.  With lots of river valleys and lakes, there are some great trails from mostly flat ground, to up and down the valleys for some elevation gains (and losses) that can get your heart pumping!

Our little used trail system offers a chance to get away from our usual surroundings and see the world on foot.  Hiking gives us a chance to slow down and let the beauty of our natural areas soak in.  A little fresh air goes a long way to dusting off the cobwebs and rejuvinating our outlook on life.

The only equipment needed is a pair of shoes or hiking boots, a water bottle, and some layers to add or remove as we hike along.  We will keep an eye out for animal tracks, wildlife, and birds, as well as observe the flora of the area.

Price range: $10-20 per person, depending on trip destination and duration.  We supply snacks and water so you just need to bring a few warm clothes and a sense of discovery.

Fishing: find a new spot, learn some new skills, hire a boat and head out, or learn how to fish from a kayak.

fishing

Fishing is the name of the game with these trips.  So much water, so many fish, and we will try and find a few for the end of your fishing line!

Fishing from shore on one of our lakes gives us the option to throw in a pickerel rig and relax while you enjoy the scenery or cast a lure searching for a Northern Pike, or maybe a Wallleye or two.  Spin cast from the banks, or try your hand at fly fishing.  We can even find a few lakes that are stocked with trout that we can fish on year round.

We can arrange a boat for a chance to slip out on the water and throw in a line. If room to move around and a motor are your thing we can head out in a 14 foot aluminum boat on one of the bigger lakes and a chance to catch a Master Angler Northern or Walleye. If you want a quieter and more intimate relationship with your surroundings we can head out in kayaks in search of the perfect fishing hole. Sitting low to the water gives us a different vantage point, and allows us to become one with the environment very quickly.  Nothing feels quite like pulling in a fish from a small paddlecraft.
